Summer Skincare Tips To Prevent Body Acne
Every season comes with a handful of embarrassing beauty woes that we all want to avoid. Winter comes with dry, flaky skin; the springtime can bring swollen, puffy eyes from the excess pollen; and summer has its own set of sweaty mishaps. One of these summertime beauty woes is the increase in body acne due to sweaty skin.
We focus on great skincare for our faces year round, but many of us just don’t know what to do when an unexpected bout of body acne makes its unsightly debut on our backs and chests. The summer means high temperatures and a lot of sun which is great in most aspects, except for that constant sweaty sheen over your skin that results in clogged pores and blemishes. Use these tips to prevent body acne from ruining your bare, bronzed skin looks:
Use Medicated Body Wash- There are plenty of drugstore options of cleansers and body washes that contain salicylic acid or benzoyl peroxide. Use these in the shower to clean your pores and prevent bacteria from causing breakouts. Neutrogena makes some great products for body acne like the Body Clear Body Wash which is made with salicylic acid. Another great Neutrogena product to look into is the Body Clear Body Spray which allows you to get the same body acne fighting benefits of a salicylic acid product without the shower.
Exfoliate and Moisturize- These are the two key words for most skincare solutions including body acne. Just like your face skincare routine, it is really beneficial to exfoliate your body once a week to slough off dead skin cells that clog your pores. Don’t go overboard on the exfoliation because it can result in irritated and dry skin that can also lead to body acne. Be sure to to moisturize for optimal skin health.
Shower After Sweaty Activities- Whether you just got back from the gym, went on a nice hike, or just spent a long day outside in high temperatures, be sure to take a shower to avoid bacteria sitting on your skin for a long period of time which can cause body acne.
Wear The Right Clothes- Try to wear loose, breathable clothes made out of natural fabrics on a daily basis, but especially when you are working out. Choosing the right workout clothes can prevent sweat from staying on your skin and allow it to dry quickly.
See A Dermatologist- If you do all these things and this routine isn’t preventing your body acne, go to a dermatologist who will provide a more vigorous routine. The doctor may prescribe antibiotics as well as a stronger body wash with higher concentrations of salicylic acid or benzoyl peroxide.
